Overview

The Vision of the Usher Ministry is to provide warmth, direction, and a servant's heart in helping "to lead souls to Christ”.  The Usher Ministry serves over 700 people on every Sunday at the 9:00am and 11:00 am services.  Currently there are over 60 ushers. Certain ushers serve every Sunday while others usher once a month.  On a given Sunday an usher may find himself handling matters such as passing the offering plate, assisting the congregation in finding seats, helping  a child find their parents and assisting the Health Ministry care for a sick member of the congregation. Although there are set duties that occur every Sunday, an usher must be flexible to handle many things.

An usher is a watchman. He has to watch for any problems that may occur.  He is pastor's assistant by welcoming guest and performing any special requests from the Pastor.  The usher is a host by making anyone in the congregation feel welcome especially first time visitors.  He is to provide warmth, direction and a servant's heart in helping to lead souls to Christ.  An usher is a guide. He should be acquainted with the church facility. On Sundays, ushers usually open and close the church.

The Attitudes and Actions of a Usher are guided by Galatians 5: 22-23, " But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

In addition to ushering every Sunday, ushers serve at special evening services such as Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, Sanctuary Choir Service, Sunday School Christmas Play and New Year's Eve.  Ushers also assist at funerals.
